A Royal blue peacock greeted me on the way to the men's group yesterday. Its tail feathers tucked, weathering the wind in search of food. A welcoming return to work again. And a Southern double-collared sunbird is dancing while I write.

Spring Equinox Weekend:

Kitchen drumming, 30 people sitting in an open kitchen, creating rhythmic sounds on drums, shakers, voice, and feet. A wall carpet of a San rock painting staring at us. An Inuit beat master leading at first and then curtailed by the German mother hen, stopping and starting. Opening and ending with clinically precise 'mindfulness' exercises and an overtly pseudo-intellectual discussion about flow.

Sunrise Equinox Sunday.

Dancing bare feet in a green field with strangers, welcoming the sunrise guided by amplified voice and drums echoing through the valley. Cacao's anxiousness peaks as amber and yellow hues of sunlight paints the sky, just before the glowing sphere crests the valley's mountain. What was I fearing, that he won't show up? He always does, I rarely meet him. Finally, a soft release of anticipation as the clouds filter the first direct rays, as throat singing crescendos and grey bearded trance DJ plugs in. The smell of the fire players lighting their gasoline sticks permeates the air. A white broken tile pierces through the soil beckoning my fingers to touch. 'This is also just man-made,' whooshes the flames through the morning light.
